A digital personal shrine, that allows smartphone users to send anonymous petitions to the Virgin Mary. The app will present a random image of Mary to the user with information on her story within the For The Love of Mary project. An anonymous petition can be typed and sent to her. There will be other fun features within the app including a front facing camera that will allow the user to take photographs of their favourite shrine and upload it along with their story about that shrine to the database. This can then get added into the bank of Marys for petitioning.The petitions gathered will be used to create visuals for the For The Love of Mary theatre show detailing the stories of women from Ireland and their relationship with the Virgin Mary told through the eyes of a woman from a Unionist background, displaced in the Nationalist community, mapping her journey of coming to terms with this mysterious figure.
